Division Controller

Department: Mechanical - Accounting/Admin
Location: Ferndale, WA

Andgar Mechanical has an opening for a Division Controller at our Ferndale, WA location. This position is responsible for oversight of all accounting operations for a defined and well-established business unit – to include periodic financial reporting, maintenance of accounting records, cash management, managing a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, and ensuring the accuracy of reported financial results within the appropriate scope of practice, while adhering to Andgar company policies and standards. Actual duties may include some or all duties listed below.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable staff for oversight of core accounting functions specific to the business unit
  • Partner with payroll provider for oversight of payroll specific to the business unit
  • Partner with external stakeholders and maintain positive working relationships – customers, banking, 401k provider, outside accounting firm, software vendors, insurance broker, etc.
  • Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Contract administration and regular processing of contract billings and collection
  • Ensure accounts payable for business unit are paid in timely manner and that all reasonable discounts are taken
  • Ensure accounts receivable for business unit are collected promptly
  • Issue timely and complete financial statements on a monthly and quarterly financial reporting for internal and external purposes
  • Partner with departmental leaders, executives, project managers and others to provide pertinent financial information for timely decision making and process improvement
  • Ensure periodic bank reconciliations and other GL reconciliations are completed
  • Comply with local state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics, manage the production of annual budget and forecasts
  • Drive and implement process change by working with internal and external stakeholders
  • Additional duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Advanced understanding of financial software, auditing and budget development
  • Understanding of multi-entity operations and intercompany transactions
  • Demonstrates team building and interpersonal skills by maintaining positive, collaborative, and constructive interpersonal relationships with team
  • Adapts to changes in work assignments and environment, is willing to assume additional responsibility and learn new processes
  • Ability to work closely with senior management team
  • Computer literate with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience in maintaining/configuring an ERP system

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience for a major company or division of large corporation
  • Certified Public Accountant certification or other designation (CMA, CGA) preferred
  • Knowledge of construction industry a plus
  • Current Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
