Payroll Administrator

Department: Mechanical - Accounting/Admin
Location: Ferndale, WA

Payroll Administrator

Andgar Mechanical has an opening for a Payroll Administrator at our Ferndale, WA location. This position is responsible for handling all payroll duties – to include daily timecard entry, payroll processing and required reporting, in accordance with Andgar company policies and standards. Actual duties may include some or all duties listed below.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Performs weekly processing and reporting, to include Washington State Department of Labor and Industries Certified Payroll reporting and federal tax payments
  • Reviews timesheets and resolves timesheet exceptions and errors with timesheet approvers
  • Syncs daily timesheet data into accounting system
  • Completes weekly payroll processing checklist to ensure accurate and timely processing of essential payroll tasks
  • Partners with Human Resources to ensure accurate and timely employee administration
  • Maintains all payroll files and operates as subject matter expert for accounting system payroll module
  • Supports/advises Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable as needed
  • Updates and maintains payroll processes and procedures
  • Creates and maintains customer jobs in the accounting system
  • Adhere to assigned work schedule (attendance and punctuality).
  • Responds to phone messages, emails in timely manner.
  • Comply with all applicable standards, policies, or procedures, maintaining a neat work area.
  • Seeks assistance as needed and asks questions in a timely manner and to appropriate staff.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, keen attention to detail, and ability to develop solutions to complex problems
  • Extensive experience formatting, cleaning, and standardizing raw payroll data sets for importing, reporting, and compliance purposes
  • Timely Response to inter-company personnel, maintaining an internal service mindset
  • Consistently meet the overall goals of Accounting Department, timely performance of duties
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Computer proficient with MS Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word)

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5 years or more Payroll experience
  • Additional certifications or experience a plus
